Night Shift Lights
Our Role
Working in close collaboration with LightMode, our role in this project was to initially design the control module for the helmet lights but later expanded to include the light strips themselves, novel manufacturing processes and electronics and firmware development.
Controller
The initial focus was on enhancing the mechanical design of the controller housing to ensure it could be securely attached to a helmet, maintain waterproof operation and be usable with a gloved hand.
Light Stips
The light strips posed their own set of challenges. Unlike conventional LED light strips, that show hotspots and are generally not very uniform, the LightMode strips had to be perfect. We worked closely with the teams at LightMode and overseas manufacturing partners to develop both the design, tooling and manufacturing process to ensure a perfect result.
Customization
In addition to being designed to fit on any helmet, further light customization was made possible through the LightMode app, where users can vary the color, select animated effects or even have the lights react in sync to ambient sounds or music.
